WHAT TO EXPECT

Life can be challenging, things do not always work out the way we may have planned with everyday issues and stresses easily becoming unmanageable. We all need support at some point in our lives to overcome problems. Counselling can provide clarity and guidance at a time when you may be feeling weighed down by modern life. As a person centred therapist I can help you find your own solutions to whatever difficulties you are experiencing in a safe and confidential environment.
Given the right conditions, I believe a person can reach their full potential and become their true self. During the counselling relationship I will encourage you to bring your own issues to the session, I will help you to explore these issues, feelings, beliefs and behaviors, and in doing so you will gain clarity, self awareness and independence.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COUNSELLING & PSYCHOTHERAPY?
There are many different views and definitions. Personally, I describe counselling as shorter less complex work based on the here and now. Psychotherapy is more complex where we can begin to understand how early messages from the past may influence the now.
